Microblading has become more popular than ever. This is a new type of permanent makeup that goes beyond tattooing color onto the skin. It looks remarkably like real eyebrow hair, especially when it comes to working on the eyebrows. Although the process is similar, it is much more detailed. Each dot of pigment is injected individually and very quickly. Although the results may not last for long, most patients love them. They can tell the difference between actual eyebrow hair and microblading. Microblading can be used to replace thinning eyebrows or substitute for mascara. It is also useful for cancer patients and those with alopecia who desire a more subtle appearance. WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading involves many steps and is a complex process. Here is a general overview of how things work:
Gelana, our professional microblading artist, consults with you to create a series of sketches that help determine the best shape and color for your case. We then schedule the actual microblading procedure. Patients should refrain from using pain relievers like ibuprofen or aspirin (Advil) before the procedure. A complete list will be provided to you detailing the steps that must be taken before any work can begin. We will start by numbing the entire brow area with a topical pain reliever for about ten minutes on the day. Gelana is adamant about making the procedure as easy as possible for patients.
Next, we’ll use very thin needles to inject pigments below the skin’s top layer (the dermis). We will continue to use thousands of these very thin injections to create a realistic and flattering imitation of natural eyebrows. After the procedure is complete, you will receive detailed instructions on how to care for the tissue heels and pigments. It will be necessary to keep the treated area moisturized with vitamin A&D cream. You should also refrain from showering or washing your face for two days after the procedure. For 7-10 days, swimming and other activities that involve sweating should be avoided. You should be able to resume daily activities immediately if you are not taking precautions.
Initial eyebrows might appear too dark or bold. Your microblading work will gradually change over time. So you don’t get alarmed at certain stages, we will tell you what to watch out for. You will see improvements in your eyebrows over time.
After approximately 6-8 weeks, it is time to return for a final touch-up. We will have the opportunity to correct any problems and make subtle improvements, so the client is happy with their eyebrows as long as they last.
